Temporary Carpenter/Joiner – Manual Labour

Job Ref: Nuneaton 5248749

Pay Rate: £18.52 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 7-8 months

City: Nuneaton, Warwickshire

The purpose of the role is to be a key member of this essential team providing day to day maintenance repairs as well as void and planned maintenance projects. Assist in the provision of high quality and comprehensive Responsive Repairs within Housing.

Key Responsibilities:

To ensure compliance with the councils Health and Safety policy, all relevant Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Site Safety Instructions and all relevant legislation.
Using own specialist knowledge and experience to establish and maintain best practice in areas of work undertaken by the Responsive Repairs Department.
Ensure complaints or comments from tenants and or interested parties are reported promptly to the relevant supervisor.
Complete all works requested to a consistently high standard and at an appropriate speed.
Assist and participate in the creation of an open working environment in which all employees feel involved and supported.
Ensure all paperwork is correctly and promptly completed with any detail requested, and that such paperwork is returned to the supervisor or administration section as required.
Recognise the ambassadorial nature of working within the homes of tenants and residents.
Provide excellent customer service, ensuring tenants are made aware of works progress and work is completed in a timely manner, ensuring where possible works are completed on first visit.
Wear corporate uniform and behave appropriately and professionally at all times.
Comply with the Councils Driving Policy.
Undertake such other duties of a similar nature and responsibility that maybe identified as the services provided are developed and refined.

Qualifications:

City & Guilds, NVQ 2 or equivalent in a relevant discipline or willing to work towards relevant qualification.
Qualification at Level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework in Maths and English.



Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector.
Recent and relevant experience in building maintenance.
Good communication skills.
Good customer liaison skills.
Knowledge of local area.
Able to carry your relevant trade plus associated multi skill requirements to a consistently high standard and at an appropriate speed.
Should have a positive approach and good problem solving skills.
Enthusiastic and motivated to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
Good teamwork skills.
A team player but able to work under own initiative.
A desire to develop and undertake training as and when required.
Professional approach to the workplace.
