This opening assignment is for 5-6 months

A DBS disclosure is listed as a requirement for this role; however the level of disclosure has not been specified by the client

A qualified and experienced Plasterer is required to work in the in-house work force undertaking repairs in tenanted properties and voids. The successful candidate must be multi-skilled with experience of working in social housing. A clean driving licence is required and ability to drive a manual vehicle. A works van will be provided. To provide technical advice, recommend plastering solutions and execute works, this may include various plastering solutions such undercoat plasterers, one coat plasterers or finish plasters.

Key responsibilities:

Undertake dry lining works through both mechanically fixing or by dot and dab techniques and to manufacturer’s recommendations.
Assess, specify and undertake the fixing of partitions and wall systems as necessary. To carry out full floor screening works or patches repairs as necessary
Carry out external rendering works including smooth and rough cast render, pebble dash and Tyrolean cement spay finishes.
Maintain accurate written records of works undertaken as required including measuring works completed and submitting paperwork on a weekly basis.
Ensure that claims for all works over and above specifications are made.
Order and control in use materials acquired from external merchants.
Assist in the achievement of operational job completion dates.
Carry out competent risk assessments prior to execution of work and adhering to risk assessments and method statements implemented by others. Ensure that safe and planned systems of work are used and current appropriate, Codes of Practice and Health and Safety Regulations are followed.
Participate with other trades in the general operations of the Repairs Works Section. Ensure the safety of the public and workforce.
Carry out all works with minimum disruption and ensure premises are left clean and tidy.
Carry out coving and artexing works to a various patterns and ceramic wall and floor tiling works including all edgings and finishes.

Qualifications:

A clean driving licence and able to drive a manual vehicle.
Ideally have a City & Guilds or NVQ level 2 or 3 in Plastering.
Registration with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme desirable.



Experience:

Experience of working in social housing is essential.
At least four years related experience.
Must be multi-skilled.
Bricklaying skills along with other general maintenance skills would be an advantage.
Additional training in the use of associated plant such as cement mixers, and in the erection and use of scaffolding and scaffold towers desirable.



Skills & Abilities:

Multi skilled and flexible in attitude to the working as part of a team.
An effective communicator.
Flexible with regards to hours and activity undertaken.
Able to carry out plastering works efficiently and ensure that all works are organised in an efficient manner.
