The post-holder will lead on the strategic and operational delivery of the Research and Innovation Centre, developing a strong academic and research function and supporting the delivery of the Trusts vision, aims and objectives. The post-holder will be responsible for the day to day running and functions of the research and innovation centre (including line management and budgetary responsibility), and will support the Director of Research and the Director of Allied Health Professions in the development and delivery of the future research and clinical academic strategy.

The post-holder will build and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels within the Research Department, and across all professional groups, including working with local system partners. To work flexibly and to tight timescales across multiple teams with minimal supervision and within a matrix management structure.

The post holder will support the Director of Research and the Director of Allied Health Professions in setting the direction, providing ongoing leadership and the development of strategy, reporting as required to the Executive Lead and Executive Team.

Working with a high degree of autonomy in a pressured and challenging environment, the post holder must be confident to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences where there may be significant differences between perspectives. The post holder should be skilled in communicating with both scientific, clinical, and lay audiences, and will be required to have regular contact and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders often engaging over sensitive, complex, contentious, and confidential issues to reach consensus despite divergent perspectives.

The post holder will be responsible for setting standards of best practice in research within the organisation, providing clarity in governance arrangements, timelines, resource requirements, risks, benefits, and outcomes related to research and clinical academic activity.
