Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent, full-time Band 7 Information Specialist in the Community Governance Team within Northumbria Healthcare Trust. The post will be based at Wansbeck General Hospital, Ashington and will be part of the Community Business Unit Governance Team including the Governance Lead, Transformation Manager/Strategic Analyst, Health and Administrators and linked with Safety Advisor for Community.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate that they have the ability to prioritise and manage the competing demands of the role to ensure accurate data analysis from a variety of sources and for a variety of purposes/meetings. The post holder should have extensive knowledge and expertise in Information & Performance Management reporting. The post holder will report directly to the Governance Lead.

The post holder must have the ability to communicate highly complex or sensitive information to managers and clinicians (including presenting and explaining complex reports at Business Unit Board meetings and other meetings) and be able to overcome barriers to understanding when communicating the results of highly complex analyses and technical details to non-information staff, including operational managers and clinicians. They must be able to analyse, compare and interpret a range of options in order to identify and/or develop information reporting solutions.

Use analytics and visualisation techniques to turn data into innovative, compelling and intuitive visuals that are usable by a wide range of staff across the organisation, supporting the Trust to make data-informed decisions.

To leading on and developing key areas of data and analytics work within the Team, and identifying new and emerging opportunities.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. • Provide expert advice and guidance relating to data, analysis, interpretation and reporting to colleagues across the organisation
• Contribute to the development of Business Unit plans
• Provides, receives and presents complex information about clinical processes from which critical data are derived, reinforcing the need for accurate, complete and timely data to be recorded
• Will use advanced computing skills in a programming language (SQL or similar), Microsoft Office packages, database development, spreadsheets, email, internet and intranet, and the ability to adapt computing skills to any new software required.
• Post holder will require an in-depth knowledge of the Trust’s Information systems in relation to Business Units, so that they can act as specialist contact for queries relating to information recording, reporting and interpretation in that area.
• Will have an ability to influence clinicians and managers in the need for and use of highly complex and sensitive specialised information about clinical performance issues.
• Post holder will possess a good appreciation of clinical terminology, and clinical coding and classification systems.
• To lead, inspire and motivate others to high performance by agreeing clear goals and objectives, providing support and guidance and creating opportunities for development
• To contribute to the development of a culture of high engagement, where staff are empowered and entrusted to provide the best services and care for patients
• To promote and facilitate innovation and continuous improvement to deliver better services for service users and patients
• Accountability for the leadership of post holders staff / teams / departments
