What skills and experience we're looking for

We have a brilliant opportunity for an experienced teacher to join St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, a warm, ambitious and well-loved school community where children are known, valued and encouraged to thrive from the very start of their education. St Mary’s is a school where staff and pupils "glow with pride", where enjoyment and inclusion sit at the heart of daily life, and where pupils are exceptionally kind, caring and eager to learn.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate teacher to take on the role of SENCO alongside teaching within our dedicated team at St Marys. This role is a permanent role teaching in one of our classes with release time to complete SENCo responsibilities across the school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference for children with Special Educational Needs. The successful candidate will be committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.

This is a chance to join a committed team in a school with clear strengths, a strong sense of community and a genuine commitment to continual improvement, where your contribution will be valued, your development will be supported and your work will help shape children’s futures.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective SEND policies and strategies
• Coordinate EHCPs, reviews, and referrals to external agencies
• Work closely with staff to support high-quality teaching and adaptive practice

• Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and provision

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have the NASENCo qualification (or willingness to complete it).
• Have substantial experience working with children with SEND, including complex needs
• Successful teaching experience, ideally across the primary phases.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
• Be committed to inclusive education and raising outcomes for vulnerable pupils

• A supportive and friendly team environment
• Enthusiastic, curious, and well-behaved pupils
• Opportunities for professional development and career progression
