The post holder will be expected to support their team, department and organisation to achieve the Trust’s Values in their day-to-day work. They are:

The post holder will support on the implementation and delivery of the Procurement Strategy across the Trusts’ and will achieve this by:
1) By taking lead responsibility for the internal delivery of strategic and operational procurement for defined Categories of Expenditure by delivering a portfolio of high value and/or strategic contracts.
2) Supporting the Chief Procurement Officer (and deputising in their absence) in developing the interface between the business units, corporate support functions and the procurement team, to drive change, innovative procurement practice and contract compliance, in pursuit of savings and cost avoidance.
3) Through sourcing, to deliver aspects of a strategic procurement work plan and participate in relevant regional and national Procurement hub work-streams. This will include the achievement of annual savings targets, compliance with all relevant legislation, identifying areas for future investigation and bringing added value to the benefit of the Trust.
4) To work autonomously in achieving and maintaining the NHS Procurement & Commercial Standards accreditation by leading on a key area of strategic delivery.
· Leading on strategic, complex and high value procurement exercises.
· Overseeing the portfolio of categories of spend to ensure effective use of resource to deliver the Trusts' objectives.
· Accountability of business as usual delivery for the Procurement Shared Service.
· Accountability for the assigned strategic areas in line with the Continuous Commercial Assessment Framework.
· Management of the recruitment, retention, development programme to sustain service delivery.
· Manage and develop the Procurement Department staff ensuring individual professional development in line with requirements and via a Training Needs Analysis.
· Use highly developed persuasion and influencing skills to engage with and influence key stakeholders at all levels within all parts of the organisation in order to facilitate participation in identified procurement activity.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. They will demonstrate commercial awareness, sound judgement, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement—aligned to the Trust’s WeCare values—is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
