As an independent prescriber working within scope of practice, the role involves conducting facetoface and telephone consultations for minor illnesses, providing medication reviews both in the practice and during nursing home visits, and offering advice for selflimiting conditions. Responsibilities include promoting costeffective prescribing, reviewing safety alerts, reconciling medicines after hospital or clinic discharge, and reviewing medications for newly registered patients. The role also requires implementing a robust repeat prescribing system, providing expertise on medication monitoring, delivering targeted reviews for highrisk patients, reauthorising repeat medications, and identifying patients suitable for repeat prescribing in collaboration with clinicians. Additional duties include strengthening safe prescribing systems for vulnerable patients, supporting clinicians in managing drug and alcohol dependencies, signposting patients appropriately, and contributing to practice targets such as QAIF in line with local and regional guidance.
