Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and forward‑thinking Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join its established consultant team. The post will be based at West Middlesex University Hospital and will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality general and specialist obstetrics and gynaecology services across both sites to the population of West London and surrounding areas.
The successful post holder will work closely with consultant colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to support the provision of safe, effective, and patient‑centred care. Core clinical responsibilities include supportingthe on call rota, lead and support the Bereavement service and Perinatal Mental Health service, support the Obstetric Endocrine service and provide leadership and clinical support for the postnatal service.
The appointment is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) and includes a non-resident on‑call commitment for Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Stakeholder Assessment and Interview will take place in-person on 11th June 2026.
The appointee will provide a high quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues already in post. It would be expected that the consultant offers continuous responsibility for the care of patients named under their team.
WhilstthispostisinitiallyandprimarilybasedattheWestMiddlesexsite,allappointmentsmayrequire cross-site working to varying degrees.
InparticularwearelookingforacolleaguetosupportObstetricservicesandoncallcommitments.These servicesarealreadyestablishedandthesuccessfulcandidatewillhaveanopportunitytodevelopthese specialist services further.
Thesuccessfulcandidatewillbeexpectedtodemonstrateanactiveinterestinthemanagementofhigh risk women obstetric problems. It is expected that the successful individual will provide a unified multidisciplinary approach to the care of women with problems as well as being able to support and develop the services within our unit.
There will be dedicated time for teaching medical students (tutorials, ward, clinic and theatre based learning) and for post graduate teaching and departmental meetings (Friday postgraduate afternoons are statutory sessions for all staff). Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.

Roles of the post
1.0 Provide a high quality consultantled service in Bereavement and PMRT, Perinatal Mental Health, as well as on labour ward and on call. Participateinthemulti-disciplinarymeetings
1.1 Evolveandwrite,inlinewithTrustgovernancepolicies,pathwaysfor patientsseenwithinthe various Obstetric services.
1.2 Workwiththemultidisciplinaryteamtoundertakeaseniorroleinthegeneralprovisionof Obstetric and Gynaecological Services at West Middlesex Hospital
1.3 Contributetothe on-callrota
1.4 Provideseniorleadershipinthemanagementofhighriskpatientsantenatally,intrapartum and postpartum in close co-operation with other specialties.
1.5 Attendalltheatrecasesto performsurgery,unlesssatisfiedatraineeiscompetentto perform the operation with indirect supervision
1.6 Assessmentanddeliveryofimmediatemedicalattentionofdeterioratingelectivepost-op patients
