Description
We are seeking a dedicated Participation and Access to Records Worker (SAR) to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring individuals can exercise their legal rights to access personal information held by our organisation. You will play a key role in managing Subject Access Requests (SARs) efficiently and sensitively, supporting transparency and trust.

Key Objectives
Manage and process Subject Access Requests in line with legal and organisational requirements.
Facilitate clear and timely communication with requesters and internal teams.
Ensure compliance with data protection legislation and organisational policies.
Support participation by empowering individuals to understand and access their personal data.
Responsibilities
Receive, log, and acknowledge Subject Access Requests promptly.
Conduct thorough searches of records and collate relevant information.
Review information to ensure compliance with exemptions and data protection regulations.
Provide clear and accessible responses to individuals making SARs.
Maintain accurate records of all requests and actions taken.
Liaise with internal departments to facilitate information gathering and ensure consistent handling of requests.
Offer guidance and support to colleagues on SAR procedures and data protection best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement of SAR processes and documentation.
Requirements
Strong understanding of data protection legislation, particularly the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
Experience in handling Subject Access Requests or similar data access enquiries.
Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
Ability to manage sensitive information confidentially and professionally.
Proficient in using IT systems and databases for record searching and data management.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
Relevant qualification in data protection, information governance, or a related field is desirable.
Previous experience in a customer service, administrative, or compliance role is advantageous.
