Psychiatry Specialty Doctor Mental Health Crisis Assessment Hub Goodmayes Hospital whole time equivalent post JOB TITLE: Adult Psychiatry Specialty Doctor for 24 hour Mental Health Crisis Assessment Hub CONTRACT: Full time 1.0 WTE Permanent or fixed term as preferred BASE: Block 8, Goodmayes Hospital, Barley Lane, London IG3 8XJ This post is for a Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry working in the Mental Health Crisis Assessment and therapeutic space within the Acute and Rehabilitation Directorate (ARD) in NELFT based at Goodmayes Hospital; Barley Lane; Ilford; IG3 8XJ. This is a new full-time substantive post with 8 Direct Clinical Contact sessions (DCC) and 2 Supporting Professional Activities sessions (SPAs) across five days (10 sessions). The purpose of this job description is to outline the level of responsibility and accountability of this post. This will ensure that all work undertaken by our staff is clearly identified and carried out under clear lines of accountability. The post does not currently include on call responsibilities however, there is an out of hours rota that you are welcome to join for ad hoc out of hours shifts paid at bank rates. If Section 12 approved, there is an expectation that the post holder will join a rota for all Section 12 approved doctors in the Trust to be available for assessments of patients detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, during normal working hours. This will entail being available to attend the Section 136 suite at Goodmayes Hospital on approximately 2-3 days per year. The post holder will support the Consultant Psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care within the Crisis Hub. Working both independently and collaboratively, they will contribute to clinical decision-making, supervise junior colleagues, and liaise with health and social care professionals. The role involves direct patient care for adults in crisis and engagement with families, as well as coordination with external mental health services and acute hospitals. The post holder will be based at a designated doctor’s desk in Block 8, Goodmayes Hospital. The post holder will have access to a designated doctor’s desk based in block 8 on the Goodmayes Hospital site.
