Neway are looking for a Business Support Officer to join our client based with Barnet Council

Location: Colindale, London, NW9
Rate: £17.29 PAYE / £22.47 Umbrella
Hours: 36 per week
Start: 1 May 2026
Duration: ongoing

Work Pattern: 1 day per week in the office (more during first‑week training)

About the Role
Barnet Council is seeking a proactive Business Support Officer to provide high‑quality administrative and executive support within Family Services. You’ll support the Senior Management Team and the Business Support Lead, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations and efficient delivery of key business functions.

Key Responsibilities
Provide executive support to senior managers, including Directors and Heads of Service

Manage a busy, reactive workload and prioritise tasks effectively

Handle confidential correspondence, emails and document preparation

Act as first point of contact for internal and external enquiries

Organise meetings, prepare papers and take minutes

Maintain filing systems, manage post, and support office processes

Assist with data monitoring, Excel trackers and information analysis

Support the Business Support Lead and provide cover when required

What You’ll Need
Strong administrative and office management experience

Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel

Ability to create and maintain trackers, monitor data and analyse information

Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work with discretion, sensitivity and initiative

Flexible, proactive approach and ability to support senior leaders
