About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity to join an experienced and versatile team, delivering first‑class services to our world‑class Armed Forces personnel.
Based at MOD Lyneham, this role is primarily office‑based and will suit a customer‑focused professional with the drive to deliver an excellent service. As a Stores Supervisor, you will lead a small team and take responsibility for the effective control of stored items, ensuring optimum availability to support the military community on site. Training can be provided where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
-Act as the lead Subject Matter Expert for the assigned area of stores responsibility, including:
-Supply Control Accounting Flight (SCAF)
-Clothing Stores
-Promote best practice and deliver the contracted service to the required quality standards and agreed service levels.
-Complete internal checks, controls, and ensure full compliance with Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) policy.
-Support the development of the delivery team, driving optimised performance and taking timely action to mitigate risk or potential service failure.
-Maintain stock levels for specialist stores and clothing, carrying out stocktaking and ensuring compliance checks are completed accurately.
-Review deliveries against invoices, identify discrepancies, replenish stock, and update records accordingly.
-Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, promoting customer service excellence at all times.
-Actively promote a safe working culture, adhering to all Health & Safety procedures, processes, and legal requirements.
-Undertake additional tasks as required by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the evolving needs of the business.
What We're Looking ForThe successful candidate will be well‑organised, precise, and confident, with credible communication skills and the ability to contribute at all levels. You'll be professional, adaptable, and able to exercise sound judgement with absolute integrity.
You will also demonstrate:
-Proven experience working within a logistics or stores environment
-Strong customer service experience with a track record of delivering quality outcomes
-IT literacy, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
-The ability to adapt to short‑notice changes and tight deadlines
-A calm, proactive, and self‑motivated approach, even under pressure
-A positive and professional image aligned to MITIE's company values
Essential / Desirable Requirements:
-Good standard of education, ideally Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
-Willingness to travel locally to other sites on occasion to provide absence cover
-Knowledge of Supply Control Accounting Flight (SCAF) procedures (desirable)
-Knowledge of MOD Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) systems (desirable - training available)
-Knowledge and awareness of material account assurance and Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) policy and processes (desirable)
-Full UK Driving Licence (desirable)
-Forklift Licence (desirable)
Additional Information
-MOD Security Clearance and DBS Standard are required
-To meet national security vetting requirements, applicants will normally need:
-3 years UK residency for Counter Terrorist Check
-5 years for Security Clearance
-10 years for Developed Vetting
-All Developed Vetted posts must be held by UK Nationals
-Proof of right to work in the UK is essential
-Approved company workwear must be worn
