The Waste Management Team is looking for a Contract Monitoring and Support Officer.


Monitoring and supporting the day-to-day operation of the Waste Collection contract, carrying out inspections including Health and Safety checks on collection crews and Household Waste Recycling Centres to ensure the contract specification is adhered to and all work is carried out to the correct standards.



You must be customer focused, flexible and self motivated. Excellent problem solving and communication skills will be required as you will play a key role in investigating complex customer enquiries and complaints. This will include liaising with customers and the Contractor’s crews and supervisors, supervise correction of operational issues, directing crews as necessary, supporting this work with picking up urgent collections and contacting residents to ensure good customer service.



A driving licence and ability to drive a Council van is essential. A good working knowledge of Council IT systems, including Rightnow, would be useful as all work is allocated and recorded through the Rightnow system. The role will also use some contractor IT systems, training will be provided.



This is primarily an outdoor field worker role, requiring travel across the Borough. An electric van will be provided. You will start and finish the day’s work at the office base at Battinson Road Depot, Halifax, where a charging point is designated.
