East Sussex Healthcare Trust is offering the opportunity to join our community midwifery team. We are seeking enthusiastic midwives who are passionate about promoting individualised care. While there are 2 full time posts we will consider part time applicants. The successful candidates will ideally have had recent community experience and will work within the core community team based in Hastings or Bexhill. You will also support other teams including the caseloading teams Ivy (homebirths/safeguarding/PNMH) and Lighthouse (young people) with visits and covering clinics. Hastings is on the South East Coast of England with its beautiful seaside towns and villages including Rye and Battle, a stones through away from the beautiful countryside of the South Downs and a short train ride to the lively Brighton. A perfect place to work!

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently and autonomously within the team is essential, you will gain experience in all aspects of midwifery care. There is an on call provision so flexibility is essential and being able to drive between visits and clinic is essential.

A full UK driving license is required and ability to travel independently between sites in timely manner.

We are looking for midwives to join our Community team in Hastings and Bexhill, providing care to pregnant and postnatal people in the local area.

You will have your own caseload, providing continuity within the antenatal and postnatal periods. You will have a set day for your clinic each week and on other days you will either undertake visits or postnatal clinic. You will arrange your bookings around other work, having some flexibility to suit the family. You will work in collaboration with the Obstetric team and our specialist teams such as safeguarding, screening and PNMH. The community team is based out of a local family hub but you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. As a community team we provide on calls to cover homebirths throughout East Sussex, the standalone midwifery unit in Eastbourne and our consultant led unit in Hastings.

We are a tight knit team working closely together to provide women/pregnant people and their families with high quality, evidence based midwifery care. You will need to be a highly motivated team player committed to improving and developing the service.

We offer an excellent induction programme for all and full preceptorship programme for newly qualified midwives. This will include the knowledge and skills required to care for diabetic service users.

A wide range of staff benefits are available to our staff including staff development, enrolment in the NHS pension scheme, auto-enrolment to our Temporary Workforce Service, access to onsite nurseries. staff restaurants and accommodation.

In addition to an internal Occupational Health department, all staff also have access to free psychological support through our confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Onsite parking is available from only £50 a year.

There has never been a better time to join East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, submit your application today.
