Job Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the Air Terminal Operations Center. You will function as the Senior Controller, responsible for monitoring the sequence of events for loading and off-loading of traffic on Air Mobility Command and other transiting aircraft authorized terminal support. You will serve as a working supervisor/senior controller, meaning that you will supervise civilian, military, and trainee information controllers in the performance of Air Terminal Operations Center duties for all types of military, commercial, and contract aircraft.
You will ensure all aircraft mission documentation, packaging, labeling and marking requirements, and all border clearance requirements have been met. You will also represent the 727 Air Mobility Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations and be responsible for directing operational activities of military and civilians who perform aircraft dispatch, load planning, and ramp controller duties pertinent to aerial port internal control and mission support of originating, transiting, and terminating aircraft.
Qualifications and Key skills:
A valid UK category B driving license is required for this position
Qualifications for this position:
- 2 years of Specialized Experience as per the key skills listed below
OR
- Bachelor’s degree: in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position together with one Specialized Experience as per the key skills listed below.
Key skills:
- Knowledge of the Department of Defense Transportation System and AMC aerial port functions.
- Knowledge of transport aircraft and related load characteristics.
- Knowledge of hazardous and/or explosive cargo movement procedures and compatibility.
- Knowledge of and ability to use various automated operating systems.
- Ability to read, comprehend and use Air Force Instructions, Department of Defense/Department of Transport regulations/instructions, and other publications.
- Ability to recognize and deter events that can lead to aircraft departure delays and/or safety incidents and prevent them.
- Ability to make decisions without hesitation or benefit of complete information.
- Ability to use considerable tact, sound judgment and perform duties efficiently under pressure of heavy workloads, multiple operations, late changing requirements, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Conditions of employment
- You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
- You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
- You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
- Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Subject to shift work, rotating shifts, uncommon tours of duty, and emergency overtime. Overtime cannot be guaranteed and should not be expected.
- Duties may require you to work in inclement weather.
