We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Transport Management Eligibility Officer to support the delivery of the Home to School Transport (HtST) service. This role provides essential operational, administrative, and business support to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of this statutory function.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the School Transport Project Officer in arranging transport for eligible pupils, including mainstream, SEND, Post-16 and mainland placements, using solutions such as bus and train passes, taxis and in-house fleet services.
Act as the primary contact for parents, carers, schools and colleagues, handling eligibility enquiries and resolving issues or signposting appropriately.
Assess and process transport applications for SEND and mainstream pupils within required timescales, ensuring compliance with policy and statutory guidance.
Communicate eligibility decision effectively to families and stakeholders.
Follow, develop and maintain standard operating procedures for School Transport eligibility and other school transport related processes.
Provide advice on eligibility and appropriate transport solutions for pupils with complex needs, including the selection of suitable specialist equipment.
Work with stakeholders to interpret policy, contribute to policy reviews, and support effective, sensitive problem-solving in challenging or high-risk situations.
Maintain accurate records by updating the central database promptly to reflect any changes for all eligible service users.
This is a key role within the Children’s Services team, requiring excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
