Our people are at the heart of the University - our excellence in teaching, research and knowledge exchange depends on the engagement, capability and wellbeing of our people. We strive to create and encourage an environment where people have the opportunity to develop, progress and thrive.
Based at our Headington campus and reporting to the Head of Modelling, Analysis and Resource Planning, the Senior Resource Planning Analyst will be responsible for producing high‑quality analysis and intelligence to support modelling, forecasting and reporting of key University resources (including student numbers, financial income and space).
The post holder will work closely with the Resource Planning Manager to shape and deliver key analytical outputs, ensuring that modelling and forecasting insights effectively inform senior decision‑making and support the University’s strategic objectives.
We are seeking a skilled data analyst with the ability to analyse and present complex information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders. Experience with Alteryx or similar data processing tools would be an advantage.
The post is available from 26 May 2026. It is a full-time post but can also be offered part-time at no less than 0.8 FTE.
You will join the Modelling, Analysis and Resource Planning team within Strategic Change and Planning, part of the Academic and Student Administration Directorate. The team is responsible for reporting, analysing, forecasting and modelling a wide range of data relating to student numbers, outcomes and associated metrics.
The wider division provides impartial evidence, analysis and planning expertise to support strategic decision‑making and change across the University, spanning business intelligence and analytics, modelling and forecasting, market intelligence, strategic planning, statutory returns and oversight of strategic change initiatives.
The immediate team is small, supportive and enthusiastic, and you can expect to receive training, mentoring and opportunities for professional development.
What will I be doing?
- You will deliver high‑quality analysis and modelling to support strategic decisions across the University. This includes producing regular forecasting updates, responding to ad hoc data requests, and staying informed about changes in the Higher Education landscape to provide market context.
- You will work closely with colleagues across the division to develop automated reporting and dashboards, support the creation and monitoring of strategic KPIs, and tailor complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- You will also contribute analytical expertise to senior‑led projects and committees and undertake additional work as required by the Head of Modelling, Analysis and Resource Planning and the Resource Planning Manager.
What skills do I need?
- Degree or equivalent in a subject with numerical and analytical content.
- Substantial experience of a wide range of advanced quantitative research/data analysis and reporting; including using appropriate methodology, handling and interpreting large and complex datasets.
- Proven experience of presenting results, drawing conclusions and making recommendations.
- Experience of using data processing and analytics software packages such as Alteryx to automate and streamline key reporting and analysis.
