About Discovery
At Discovery, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a full, meaningful and connected life — and our teams play a vital role in making this happen every single day. As a not-for-profit social care provider, we support people with learning disabilities and autism across Somerset to live the lives they choose, in the places they love, with the people who matter most to them.
We're proud of our welcoming, values-led culture where kindness, respect and positivity are at the heart of everything we do. Whether we're supporting someone to enjoy their favourite hobby, learn new skills, spend time with family, or simply feel comfortable and safe at home, our focus is always on promoting independence and celebrating individuality.
When you join Discovery, you're not just starting a job — you're becoming part of a passionate team that truly cares. We'll give you all the training you need, ongoing support, and opportunities to grow your skills and confidence. If you want to work for an organisation that makes you feel valued while helping others thrive, Discovery is the place to be.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.!
About the role
In this varied and rewarding role, you'll be supporting six adults aged 40-60 in their warm, friendly home in Glastonbury. Five of the people we support have profound and multiple disabilities, including one gentleman who uses PEG feeding, and two people who have epilepsy supported by proactive support plans. Four individuals require support with their mobility and use wheelchairs and hoists. Your role will include a balance of personal care, encouraging daily hygiene routines and promoting comfort, dignity and choice throughout the day. Full training will be provided.
The people you'll support love getting out and about — whether that's hydrotherapy sessions (you'll need to be comfortable supporting in the pool), theatre and cinema trips, local social clubs or days exploring Glastonbury and the wider community. One gentleman is a real thrill-seeker who enjoys activities such as rock climbing, horse riding and even bungee jumping! Others enjoy themed breaks, volunteering opportunities and spending quality time with their families. No two days are ever the same, and you'll be part of a supportive, passionate team who make every day meaningful.
Shifts range from early (7/8am-2/3pm) to late (2/3pm-9/10pm), with the option of long days when needed — though the home generally prefers shorter shifts due to its busy pace. Full-time and part-time roles are available, with alternate weekends worked as part of the rota.
A manual driving licence is essential, as you'll be supporting people using the home's two vehicles.
About you
You don't need previous experience to join us — what matters most is your values, your compassion and your genuine desire to make a difference. If you're someone who is patient, positive, calm under pressure and motivated by helping others to live life to the fullest, you'll fit right in. The best Support Workers are great listeners, naturally empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with the people they support.
You'll be someone who enjoys being active, willing to try new things and get 'stuck in'. You'll need to be comfortable working as part of a close, supportive team, following guidance, and adapting to different needs throughout the day. Good IT skills are important too, as you'll be keeping accurate records and updating support plans — full training is provided, so you'll feel confident and supported every step of the way.
Most importantly, you'll bring warmth, reliability and a willingness to learn. If you're looking for a role with purpose, where every shift leaves you knowing you've genuinely made someone's day better, we'd love to welcome you to our team.
