Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Night Porter role based in Cardiff. The Night Porter is responsible for overseeing the hotel during overnight hours, ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all guests.
Key responsibilities include assisting with supporting guest requests, maintaining cleanliness and presentation of public areas, and carrying out regular security checks throughout the property but conducting hotel fire walks. You will also assist with basic administrative tasks, prepare the hotel for the morning shift, and ensure a smooth handover to the daytime team. Basic food handling requests including preparation of the room service menu.
This role is vital in delivering a calm, safe, and welcoming environment during the night, while providing excellent customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities
• Welcome and assist guests during overnight hours, including late arrivals and early departures
• Conduct regular security patrols of the hotel and report any issues
• Ensure all public areas are clean, tidy, and well-presented
• Respond promptly to guest requests and resolve any issues efficiently
• Assist with basic reception duties where required
• Set up meeting rooms or breakfast areas (if applicable)
• Handle any emergencies in a calm and professional manner
• Complete night checklists and prepare reports for the morning team
• In the event of a full building evacuation, you will assist the Night Supervisor in ensuring the safe, swift, and efficient evacuation of all guests, including those with PEEPs, in line with hotel procedures.

Qualifications
• Previous experience in a hospitality or customer-facing role is preferred
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and remain proactive during quiet periods
• Reliable, trustworthy, and responsible, with a strong sense of security awareness
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work night shifts and remain alert throughout
