Formulation Chemist
Rate: £18.34 per hour
Location: Bracknell
Contract Length: 24 months

We are looking for a Formulation Chemist to join our Formulation Technology Group. This position would be suitable for new graduates or scientists with fewer than 5 years of experience.
Your role will include researching novel formulation technologies, understanding how growers apply their products, and developing new chemical crop protection products, using automation where appropriate. More specifically, this involves applying a fundamental understanding of chemistry and a scientific approach to design, prepare, and characterize novel formulations in the lab and at grower‑relevant scale, as well as testing their performance through representative experiments. You'll be planning and conducting experimental work programmes, so a love of practical work, good organisation skills, scientific curiosity, and an ability to solve technical problems are all critical for the role. We are also looking for someone who can integrate well into the lab community and take responsibility for specific equipment and lab spaces.
As our client is a global company, you will work within multidisciplinary project teams, so high attention to detail and strong communication skills will be key to your success as you work with scientists from other functions to record, report, present, and discuss your data. The work will be at the forefront of Crop Protection research, so we are looking for scientists with a passion to learn and stay up to date with technological advancements.
Skills

  • Experience of working independently and safely in a chemical lab environment
  • Scientific curiosity and a passion for continuous learning
  • Good organisational and project management skills
  • A dynamic and enthusiastic attitude to problem solving
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and networking skills

This is a great opportunity for an individual with passion for practical work who is early in their career or taking their first steps into industry, with the chance to work and learn alongside highly qualified and experienced employees. We embrace and encourage diversity-this drives our innovation and enables us to outperform the market.
If this role excites you and you believe you have what we need, then we'd love to hear from you!
Education

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific subject
  • We will also consider applications from candidates with equivalent work experience
