Crynodeb
We are recruiting three new team members to be part of the service that maintains the highway network across Calderdale.
Please note: Internal at risk or redeployee applicants will be seen in the first instance.
The Highways Maintenance Service is responsible for maintaining all of the Highway’s network across the beautiful borough of Calderdale.
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking individual to join our service and be part of a team responsible for the maintenance of Calderdale’s highway network. You will carry out work that is directed from highways inspections such as repairs to potholes, paving, kerbs, walling, fencing and drainage. You will also be required to attend emergency out of hours calls for example, in response to road traffic accidents or incidents of flooding.
You will support the Senior Operatives and be expected to manage your own workload in line with service requirements. You should have strong organisational and interpersonal skills and be competent in working in an outdoor environment carrying out a variety of maintenance tasks.
This is a Calderdale wide role and so it is essential that you have an adaptable approach. You will be expected to work outside of core hours on standby if required.
If you have experience in this type of work, are flexible and have knowledge of safe working practices then we would welcome your application. A full UK driving licence (manual) is essential and NRASWA Operative Streetworks Certificate is desirable for this role.
We offer;
• A full training and support package
• Use of a work vehicle as required
• Essential PPE (uniform, hi vis jacket, boots, gloves)
• All equipment required to carry out the role
• Generous pension scheme
• 27 days annual leave (increasing to 32 days after 5 years continuous Local Government service) plus 8 statutory holidays
For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Stuart Gill on 07736175375, email Stuart.Gill@calderdale.gov.uk .
