We are currently recruiting for an experienced Personal Assistant for a lovely lady called “Betty” who has Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Betty lives with her husband who is her main carer, and they have a daughter who supports the couple and 3 sons who visit. The couple have been married over 50 years and have a great family support network – Betty used to enjoy walking and getting out in nature and was quite active before her diagnosis.

There will be light domestic tasks required including laundry and light household duties, Betty also requires full support with washing, showering, dressing, grooming, and maintaining hygiene due to cognitive impairment affecting sequencing, memory, and task initiation. She cannot recognise when she needs to complete personal care and becomes distressed without reassurance.

Betty can move independently but will require assistance and accompanying when manoeuvring to prevent risk from falls and disorientation. She always requires supervision.

You may be required to assist and prompt with eating and drinking to ensure Betty eats adequately and safely and aid in preparing meals.

You will be expected to interact with Betty and engage in activities she may want to explore; you must be able to demonstrate patience and kindness when Betty is trying to engage, and reassurance always is required.

You may be required to accompany Betty to appointments and assist in scheduling appointments/bookings that are required and you should be comfortable accessing the community should Betty decided she would like to access the community.

A driver would be advantageous but is not essential.
