We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Gardener on a 7-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 - £17.10 per hour
Summary:
As a Gardener, you will perform a wide range of practical amenity horticulture tasks to ensure our parks, green spaces, and client sites meet strict Grounds Maintenance Specifications. Working under the guidance of a Team Leader or Grounds Manager, you will be responsible for everything from routine lawn maintenance and hedge trimming to complex soft landscaping and the marking of sports pitches. You will also ensure that all equipment is operated safely and maintained in good working order.
Responsibilities:
Carrying out grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and leaf/litter clearance.
Ensuring all work complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Road Traffic Regulations; reporting equipment defects and incidents promptly.
Planting out bedding plants, trees, and shrubs; performing shrub bed maintenance such as pruning and division.
Operating and performing basic maintenance on vehicles, plant, and machinery (e.g., pedestrian mowers, strimmers).
Qualifications:
NVQ Stage 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) OR at least two years of proven practical experience in Grounds Maintenance.
Essentials:
Possession of a current, full UK driving licence.
Demonstrated proficiency in using mowing equipment and small plant machinery (e.g., strimmers, pedestrian mowers).
Experience in soft landscaping and general horticultural practices
