Are you a passionate Science teacher who believes relationships are at the heart of learning?
Do you thrive in a structured environment where every student is supported to succeed academically and emotionally?
Are you ready to teach in a setting that truly understands neurodiversity?
We are working with a specialist school in Clevedon that supports pupils with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The school offers a carefully structured, academically focused curriculum, delivered through a highly relational and therapeutic approach.
This is a unique opportunity for a Science Teacher to join a forward-thinking team that prioritises connection, trust, and co-regulation alongside high-quality teaching and learning.
About the Role-
Full-time Science Teacher position
-
Working hours: 08:00 – 16:00 (12:30 finish on Fridays)
-
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Science lessons across key stages
-
Support students with a wide range of needs, including ADHD, ASC, and PDA profiles
-
Work collaboratively with a skilled multidisciplinary team
Teaching & Learning ApproachThis setting moves away from traditional behaviourist models and instead focuses on a relational, trauma-informed approach. You will:
-
Use PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) to build trust and engagement
-
Apply Thrive principles to support emotional development
-
Follow Team Teach approaches (focused on de-escalation, with no physical interventions)
-
Co-explore and model learning alongside students
In the classroom, you will embrace:
-
Active Learning – engaging students directly in their learning
-
Formative Assessment – regularly checking understanding to inform next steps
-
Scaffolding – breaking down complex concepts to support success
-
Teacher as Facilitator – guiding student-led inquiry rather than leading from the front
What We’re Looking For-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
-
Experience teaching Science (KS3/KS4 desirable)
-
A strong understanding of, or willingness to learn about, ADHD, ASC, and PDA
-
A calm, reflective, and relational approach to teaching
-
Commitment to structured, high-quality academic delivery
-
Confidence in adapting teaching to meet diverse and complex needs
What You’ll Gain-
The opportunity to work in a highly supportive, specialist environment
-
Ongoing professional development in therapeutic and relational practices
