We are working with a specialist educational setting in Bridgwater that supports children and young people with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment for pupils with autism spectrum condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and complex learning and communication difficulties.
The setting places a strong emphasis on developing independence, confidence, and essential life skills, alongside personalised academic and vocational learning. Every pupil is supported to reach their full potential through tailored approaches, strong relationships, and a holistic focus on wellbeing.
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant / SEND TA to join a committed and supportive team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in education, care, or youth work who is looking to build their experience within a specialist environment. Full training and ongoing professional development are provided.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils both in the classroom and through practical, real-life learning opportunities

Work closely with teaching staff to deliver individual learning plans

Encourage communication, engagement, and emotional wellbeing

Help pupils build independence and essential life skills

Provide consistent, nurturing support tailored to each learner’s needs
What we’re looking for:

Experience working with children or young people with additional needs and/or disabilities

Understanding of (or willingness to learn about) ASC, SEMH, and complex communication needs

A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach
-
Experience in education, care, or youth support settings
-
Confidence in managing behaviour positively and proactively
-
Access to your own transport is desirable due to the location
