We are recruiting a Housekeeping Duty Supervisor to join our dedicated, friendly and professional team at our Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel.

This role is suitable for someone who wishes to progress their career in hospitality management, assisting in running a busy city hostel.


About the role:

Reporting to the Edinburgh Manager, you will:

• Oversee and manage the daily tasks of housekeeping colleagues, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in guest rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and public spaces, meeting hostel cleanliness standards.
• Train new and existing housekeeping colleagues on cleaning procedures, safety standards, and guest service expectations.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness, organisation, and overall guest satisfaction.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and linen, ordering replacements as necessary using the Hostelling Scotland processes.
• Ensure quick and efficient room turnovers, especially during peak check-in/check-out times, ensuring rooms are ready for new guests.
• Follow and enforce health, safety, and hygiene regulations, ensuring safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Address guest requests related to room cleaning or additional supplies, ensuring prompt and courteous service.
• Oversee the washing, folding, and distribution of linens and towels, ensuring they are in good condition.
• Identify and report any maintenance or repair needs to the Hostel Manager.
• Ensure guests have a comfortable stay by maintaining high cleanliness standards and addressing any guest feedback or concerns related to cleanliness.
• Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Hostel Manager.

You will be part of a small team, which means successful candidates live and work closely with colleagues. It is therefore essential that all members are capable and willing to support and respect each other, maintaining team morale to create a positive environment for both guest and employee experience.
