We are recruiting a Front of House Duty Supervisor to join our dedicated, friendly and professional team at our Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel.

This role is suitable for someone who wishes to progress their career in hospitality management, assisting in running a busy city hostel.


About the role:

Reporting to the Edinburgh Manager, you will:


• Ensure a warm and friendly welcome for all guests at check in
• Oversee and assist with the check in/check out process
• Respond to guest enquiries promptly and professionally
• Offer local information and recommendations to enhance the guest experience
• Manage and support front of house colleagues
• Monitor reception and front of house to ensure clean and presentable
• Collaborate with the Manager to ensure all maintenance issues are reported and addressed
• Ensure all payments are processed accurately
• Assist in maintaining financial records as per Hostelling Scotland processes
• Ensure Health and Safety standards are followed and be prepared to handle emergency situations following Hostelling Scotland protocols
• With the support of the Hostel Manager resolve guest complaints in a professional and calm manner
• Ensure guest feedback, operational issues or colleague concerns are reported to the Hostel Manager
• Maintain a respectful and pleasant environment for guests at all times
• Support the Hostel Manager in the training colleagues in front of house
• Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Hostel Manager

You will be part of a small team, which means successful candidates live and work closely with colleagues. It is therefore essential that all members are capable and willing to support and respect each other, maintaining team morale to create a positive environment for both guest and employee experience.

Additional Information:

• A successful candidate is required to provide one satisfactory reference and a recent Basic Disclosure clearance
