To work with qualified therapists for the benefit of the patient and facilitating the patients progression through the treatment plan, within the protocols/ plans set out by the qualified therapist. To be responsible for implementing delegated tasks which form part of the patients treatment programme, reporting back to the supervising therapist prior to progressing to the next stage in the programme. To be responsible for prioritising and planning own daily programme of work. To review caseload on a regular basis and report to senior therapist when concerns are found over new or complex findings. To use your initiative in responding to unforeseen clinical situations. To document interventions accurately and promptly and to keep the overseeing therapists regularly updated as to the patient's progress. To provide cross team cover as required within the limits of competencies. Typical clinical duties might include: 0 Supervising and progressing exercise programmes 0 Gait re-education and progression 0 Administering electrotherapy 0 Assisting and occasionally leading rehabilitation classes 0 Assisting with Aquatic Therapy services. 0 Assisting a therapist with a patient who requires more than one person present for treatment. Typical non-clinical duties might include: Testing and maintaining therapy equipment including regular testing of the hydrotherapy pool and electrotherapy machines. Assisting in the maintenance of health and safety within the department Assisting with administration duties (including photocopying and filing) Providing administration cover on the main reception desk when needed. To ensure that working area is set out appropriately and tidily. Ensure the cleaning standards of the department, gym and Hydrotherapy area are maintained. To demonstrate the mental ability to remain concentrated and focused throughout a working day. To document interventions accurately and promptly and to keep the supervising therapists regularly informed as to the patient's responses. To be responsible for the running of an exercise class, alongside the Therapist or fitness instructor, and report any changes of the patients level of participation promptly. Monitor stock levels of linen, tape, paperwork and other items used regularly within the therapy department. To demonstrate the physical ability to carry out therapy treatments, this could involve moving and positioning patients. To ensure that requirements of clinical governance are met to promote a service culture in which clinical governance becomes an integral part of normal working. To use appropriate techniques when working with clients who have communication difficulties e.g., hearing impairment and cognitive or perceptual impairment. Obtain consent for therapy from patients after explaining the treatment activity. To be able to motivate and persuade others through effective communication skills. To demonstrate the ability to communicate sensitive information to patients and carers. To liaise with relevant therapists. To be able to manage potentially stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner. To adhere to trust policies and procedures. To participate in regular supervision sessions with line manager. To participate in annual appraisal and objective setting with line manager, incorporating a personal development plan.
