Summary


We are excited to offer a Band 6 Specialist Stroke Occupational Therapy role within our exemplar Acute Stroke Service at HHFT.

To provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service to the Inpatient Stroke service.

To perform advanced therapeutic assessment of Stoke patients and those medical patients who are on the Stoke wards. To provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working often without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences. Access to advice and support from a senior therapist is always available if required, clinical work is evaluated through supervision sessions.
To deputise for the Band 7 in operational management.
To provide supervision and teaching within the MDT and to students.

To participate in the delivery of the specialist therapy service in the acute stroke setting which includes Twyford and Clarke ward and occasionally to support the Early Supported Discharge Team, providing a high standard of specialised Therapy assessments, treatment and education/advice to patients whom may have a complex stroke presentation.

To autonomously manage a caseload of stroke patients, varying in level of complexity.

To participate in the delivery of the 7 day service therapy service within the Stroke service.

To have a specialist role in the assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty, and to maintain up-to-date records as an autonomous practitioner.

To have a key role in supervision and teaching of band 5 therapists, rehab assistants and students. Including completion of appraisals.

To undertake quality improvement project(s) to further team and departments clinical practice. Make recommendations to team lead/service lead and representing the department within the Trust in implementation.

To deputise to the Team Lead in day-to-day management of the team.
