Are you ready to challenge and develop your surgical skills within our dermatology team?
We are currently seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Band 6 Skin Surgery Specialist Nurse to join our Dermatology team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a Nationally accredited Skin Surgery Qualification looking to develop their surgical skills in the specialist area of Dermatology.
The role will involve delivering a skin surgery servicefor patients with suspected skin cancer or taking biopsies for diagnostic purposes. We currently run services covering York, Malton, Selby and Scarborough and are currently looking to widen this to Bridlington. The applicant must be able to travel when required.
You will work alongside the Dermatology Sister to work on a service development project with the aim of providing service equitability at all our sites.
· Performing a daily Skin Surgery Service for Patients with suspected skin cancer or taking biopsies for diagnostic purposes.
· Prioritising and escalating patient care according to information from clinical team, being aware of each patient’s situation/pathway and ensuring these comply with current Trust policies and Government waiting time targets.
· Being the first point of contact to people who may need wound assessments and being able to assess, monitor and deliver wound care advice and initiating action as required.
· Attend and participate in Dermatology MDT / service improvement meetings.
· Build good relationships with other clinical and operational team members.
· Ensuring compliance with waiting list pressures/targets and escalating where issues arise.
· Assisting with the induction and ongoing training of new healthcare / nurses.
· Reviewing and updating working practices. Following and implementing policies within the team and contributing/proposing changes to policy where necessary.
· Working within a team to update current audit practice for service improvement.
· Communicate effectively, both internally and externally, encouraging continuous service improvement and raising the profile of the service with the support of the Dermatology Sister.
· Travel between Trust sites and external partners as and when required
