The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Vehicle Recovery Section as a Vehicle Recovery Administrator. You will deliver an outstanding service to all customer interactions and carry out a range of tasks including effective management of all vehicles uplifted by Northumbria Police. You will be required to provide advice to officers, staff and members of the public in support of the Vehicle Recovery Unit in order to contribute to the efficient operation of the scheme.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyse incident reports on the force system relating to recovered vehicles, problem solving what appropriate action to take with the recovered vehicles, that may include releasing a vehicle back to an owner, retaining a vehicle and requesting further information from the officer dealing with an investigation. Having in depth scope and knowledge surrounding the reasons behind the uplift, the technical knowledge of powers used by officers to come to the best decision for the Force.
Responsible for handling often multiple enquiries at any one time, from a variety of sources including, but not limited to, telephone, on-line, e-mail and voicemails within the time specified by any agreed service levels and adhering to quality standards, engaging effectively with all customers through a variety of formats, quickly building rapport and utilising a creative problem-solving approach to understand and respond to customer needs.
Proactively operate and ensure appropriate records created by the role using specialist software are managed effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner, using both internal and national force systems. To determine if vehicles stored for a prolonged period, are in fact needed, liaising with all ranks of Officers and recovery operators retaining the vehicle, challenging if the retention is genuine or if the Force can proceed with releasing/disposing of the vehicle.

Working with Microsoft software packages and writing brief reports for management.
