Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant - Primary (1:1 Support)

Location: LS26, Leeds

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming mainstream primary school in the LS26 area of Leeds. This role will be on a supply basis and will involve providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a patient and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting children who may face barriers to learning and helping them engage positively in the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs throughout the school day
- Support the child in managing emotions, behaviour, and engagement in learning activities
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support strategies
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and social interaction
- Support the pupil both in the classroom and during structured interventions
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs within a school or care setting
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, Youth Worker, or Support Worker is desirable
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour support
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- The right to work in the UK
