This post is an appointment via the Medical Education Department at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation and is primarily to support the undergraduate teaching programme for medical students additionally may support postgrad. The postholder will be one of a team of a number of Clinical Teaching Fellows.
This prestigious role may mean you are eligible for entry to the part-time taught PG Certificate in Medical Education and you will work closely with the Sub-Dean/Undergraduate Lead, Associate DME, CTF Site Lead, Medical Education Manager, Simulation Team and Undergraduate / Postgraduate Administrators.
The role may be split 50% medical education and 50% clinical/or 100% Medical Education. Your placement could potentially be six months in Medical Education and six months in a clinical specialty.
Your role will be due to start on 5th August 2026 and, as per the funding, will be a fixed term contract until 3rd August 2027.

Interviews for these posts will take place between 23rd March - 2nd April 2026.
Your role will involve student teaching, it will focus on clinical skills, particularly beside patient teaching but also case-based discussions. You will identify and manage any teaching skills gaps and work to address these through a structured provision as well as helping identify medical students in ‘difficulty’. Simulation training will play a key part.
You will be expected to attend at undergraduate operational meetings at site as well as faculty meetings held off site at the Medical Schools in London and Chelmsford; you will be required to attend the Junior Doctor Patient Safety Forum/Medical Education Faculty meetings held at site.
As our Clinical Teaching fellows you will assist in organisation and development of student assessments, organising small group teaching, virtual teaching and be involved in the supervision and support of junior doctor (F1 & F2) led teaching of undergraduates.
It will be envisaged that you will provide education support for students including developing e-learning resources.
You will contribute to the departmental teaching Programmes at Undergraduate/Postgraduate level, assisting in the preparation and implementation of Royal College Mock and final PACES, Medical School Mock and Final MBBS.
It will be expected that your Annual Leave and Study leave will be split evenly across placements.

8. Prescribing teaching tailored for the Prescribing Safety Assessment exam
9. To act as formal mentor for new medical students
