Grounds Maintenance Operative - York (Temporary)£17 per hour | 24 hours per week | 6:00am - 3:30pm | Start ASAPWe are recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join a respected contractor delivering services for local authorities, universities, and housing associations across York.
This is a temporary position, available for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating ride‑on mowers
- Using strimmers, hedge cutters, and other grounds maintenance tools
- General horticultural tasks and outdoor maintenance
- Supporting a small, friendly team to maintain high‑quality outdoor spaces
Requirements
- Basic DBS check - provided by Hays
- Experience in grounds maintenance
- Competent with mowers, strimmers, and hedge‑cutting equipment
- Horticulture qualifications desired (but not essential)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and capable of working independently
- Flexibility on working days (24 hours per week)
Shift Pattern
- 6:00am - 3:30pm
- 24 hours per week (Mon-Fri, flexible days)
Pay & Start
- £17 per hour
- Immediate start available
