Summary
Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking for an exciting new opportunity within our clients Highways Asset Maintenance Team? With a Capital Renewal programme in excess of 10 million, this busy team is focused on maintenance, renewal and improvement of highway infrastructure assets as well as the city’s ancient monuments.
Our client, a local authority, is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join their team, initially on a 5 (five) month interim basis, with the potential of temp to perm, working on a wide range of Capital Infrastructure & Maintenance Programmes of Works, to deliver high-quality highway infrastructure improvements within York.
This is a full time 37 hours a week, interim position, weekly pay and the hourly rate is commensurate with current market rates and an individual’s experience.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Assist and lead in the delivery of engineering projects from inception to completion, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, and contract management.
• Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, external partners, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
• Conducting site visits and inspections to assess project progress and compliance with design specifications.
• Providing technical advice and support to colleagues as well as comply and work to, and within, the CDM, and other H&S Regulations, at all times.
• Undertaking data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform engineering decisions.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
• Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent)
• Experience in highway engineering.
• Sound knowledge of highway engineering principles, practices, and legislation.
• Proficient in using engineering design software and tools such as AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
Whilst the office base will be York City Centre, easily accessible via car or public transport, our client will offer flexible working, including home working for which IT equipment will be provided, and they are open-minded in structuring hybrid working arrangements, where feasible. The role will also involve being out and about to help oversee the specific projects and engage with the local communities.
