A Vacancy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Operations and Performance Manager to engage with the day-to-day management and operational delivery across the Women and Children’s Group. This role will play a key part in supporting high-quality patient care, service development, performance management, and the effective use of resources across their respective specialties.
Women and Children’s is made up of five clinical specialties, including Gynaecology, Subfertility, Obstetrics, Neonates and Paediatric services. With that in mind, this role will be one of a challenging nature, requiring an individual who has a passion for operational management, service improvement and a keen aspiration for excellence.
The post holder will work closely in collaboration with clinical, nursing and corporate colleagues to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred services, while supporting delivery of group and Trust wide objectives.
The successful candidate will support the Group Manager and Associate Group Manager in the day-to-day business of operational management of a service, whilst also playing a vital role in the strength and growth of the administrative functions.

1. Work with the Group Manager & Associate Group Manager ensuring clear communication and robust operational implementation of policy, business objectives and agreed targets across the department.
2. Support the Group Manager & Associate Group Manager with the operational management of services and supporting continuous service improvement.
3. Responsible for day-to-day delivery of operational performance within assigned services to achieve delivery of national and local targets and the development and delivery of improvement plans.
4. Responsible for assigned budgets as budgetary signature e.g. Admin cost centre budgets.
5. Implement HR and governance strategies and policies within relevant services to achieve compliancy with Trust policies and procedures, best practice, relevant legislation and regulatory provisions.
6. Responsible for the improvement and delivery of utilisation targets by ensuring effective and efficient usage of service capacity including Theatres, Treatment Rooms, Outpatients, and day units.

• Responsible for the management of service administrative staff/teams ensuring Mandatory Training, PDRs and absence are managed in line with Trust policies and procedures.
• Responsible for ensuring robust processes are in place to schedule patients and utilise theatre lists and clinics fully meeting set Key Performance Indicators and taking appropriate and timely remedial action where necessary. Communicate sensitively the delay/rescheduling of planned surgery/procedures to patients and relatives.
• Accountable for agreed performance metrics ensuring robust monitoring and management structures are in place to ensure transparency and accountability for teams to delivery of team scheduling targets.
• Implement and review robust arrangements within relevant specialties to effectively deal with emergencies, in line with Trust policy, including elective and emergency admissions, major emergencies and mechanical failures.
• Lead on project work when required as directed by the Group / Associate Group Manager.
• Participate in Manager of the day rota attending site meetings and ensuring effective bed management and patient flow.
