TeacherActive is currently recruiting motivated and reliable Teaching Assistants to support a range of secondary schools across Bristol and the surrounding areas.

We are working closely with several welcoming and supportive schools that are seeking Teaching Assistants for flexible day-to-day supply, short-term cover and long-term roles. These opportunities are ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and want to make a meaningful difference to students’ learning and development.

This role is also perfect for Teaching Assistants who may be looking to take the next step in their career. For those interested in progressing into classroom management, there is the opportunity to become a Cover Supervisor, with training and guidance provided to support your development.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects

  
  

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for students who require additional help

  
  

• Assisting with classroom organisation and learning activities

  
  

• Supporting students with academic progress, confidence and behaviour management

  
  

• Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment

  
  

  For those progressing into Cover Supervisor roles, responsibilities may also include:

  • Supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher

    
    

  • Delivering pre-set lesson plans and maintaining classroom behaviour

    
    

  • Ensuring students remain engaged and on task throughout lessons

    
    The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:

    • Have previous experience working with children or young people (school experience desirable but not essential)

      
      

    • Be confident supporting students in a classroom environment

      
      

    • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills

      
      

    • Be adaptable, reliable and enthusiastic about working in education

      
      

    • Be interested in progressing into a Cover Supervisor role (optional)
