Join Our Team as a Health & Safety Officer

Are you a proactive, hands-on safety professional who thrives on the factory floor? We are looking for a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our manufacturing site in Ellesmere Port. In this highly visible role, you will report directly to the General Manager and work alongside the Senior Management Team to drive a robust safety culture and ensure continuous improvement across our operations.

The Role

As our Health & Safety Officer, you won't just be managing paperwork; you'll be embedding safety standards into the daily lives of our production teams. Your focus will be on maintaining legal compliance while influencing behaviors to ensure a "safety-first" environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance & Policy: Lead site compliance with UK legislation and continuously improve H&S policies and risk controls.

  • Risk Management: Maintain a live Risk Register, drive action plans, and manage COSHH controls.

  • On-the-Ground Oversight: Conduct regular site inspections, GMP checks, and audits to support ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001).

  • Incident Response: Investigate accidents and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.

  • Training & Induction: Deliver H&S inductions for new starters and maintain site training matrices.

  • Safety Culture: Promote a "clean as we go" philosophy and coordinate fire safety and emergency procedures.

What We Are Looking For

We need a people-focused communicator who can build strong relationships across all levels of the factory.

Your Experience & Qualifications:

  • Background: 2-3 years of experience in a Health & Safety or Junior Safety Officer role, specifically within a manufacturing or factory environment.

  • Certification: IOSH qualification is essential; a NEBOSH qualification is highly desirable.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation and proficiency in MS Office.

  • Style: A hands-on approach with a constant presence on the shop floor.

  • Travel: A full UK driving license is required for occasional travel.

Why Work With Us?

You will join a supportive leadership team that values professional development. We provide ample opportunities for external training to help you grow in your career while working in a positive, inclusive environment.
