TeacherActive are currently recruiting for a passionate and qualified MFL Teacher (Modern Foreign Languages Teacher) to work in secondary schools across Cardiff and the surrounding areas. This is a full-time teaching opportunity with the potential to become a long-term position for the right candidate.

As a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping students develop language skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in communication. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons to students aged 11–16+ (Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and potentially Key Stage 5) and supporting learners as they progress towards GCSE and A-Level language qualifications.

We work with a wide network of secondary schools and colleges across Rhondda Cynon Taf and Cardiff, meaning we can match talented teachers with schools that suit their teaching style and career goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Modern Foreign Languages lessons to secondary school students
• Teach languages such as French, Spanish, German, or other MFL specialisms
• Plan and deliver engaging, structured, and differentiated lessons
• Assess and monitor student progress through regular feedback and marking
• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level language exams
• Maintain excellent classroom management and positive learning environments
• Encourage student participation and confidence in speaking foreign languages
• Work collaboratively with other teaching staff and school departments

Requirements

The successful MFL Teacher will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
• A degree or specialism in Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
• Experience teaching languages at secondary school level (KS3–KS5)
• Ability to teach GCSE and A-Level Modern Foreign Languages
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A passion for language learning and cultural education
• Experience planning engaging and interactive language lessons
