As a 2nd Officer (Offshore Operations) in our Offshore Operations team, you’ll play a key part in keeping colleagues, vessels, and missions safe as you support worldwide training and operational activity. Your work helps maintain readiness, strengthens capability, and supports operations that have a positive impact on maritime communities and global security.
You’ll help us create impactful solutions through safe navigation, operational excellence, and consistent care for our vessels and colleagues — contributing directly to a safer, better future at sea.
What you’ll do as a 2nd Officer (Offshore Operations)

You’ll be entrusted to:
- Maintain navigational watch and ensure compliance with COLREGS and company procedures, always following the Master’s Standing Orders
- Prepare voyage plans and operational documentation with the Master and Chief Officer
- Monitor navigational equipment, charts, and publications to ensure accuracy and readiness
- Assist the Chief Officer with deck operations, cargo handling, toolbox talks, and safety protocols, supervising colleagues as required
- Operate the Permit to Work (PTW) and Task Risk Assessment (TRA) systems in line with company procedures
- Manage medical equipment and ensure the medical locker remains stocked and compliant

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

- A valid STCW II/1 Officer of the Watch (OOW) Certificate and at least 12 months’ sea time on deep-sea vessels
- Updated and valid STCW qualifications plus an unrestricted ENG1 medical
- Strong leadership and communication skills for supervising deck colleagues and working with senior officers
- Confidence using electronic chart systems and vessel management software
- SC cleared or have no problems obtaining one
- British National and a British Passport holder

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
