Role: SEND Programme Year Leader for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities (internally referred to as Building Futures Year Leader)
Location: Our sessions are based at community venues across Surrey, with this role being primarily based across Guildford and Woking.
Hours: Full time 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am to 5.30pm with occasional weekends and evenings for specific events.
Salary: £28,875
Annual Leave: 33 days, inclusive of bank holidays.
Training: Fully paid training is given and further development opportunities are available.
Start date: We are hiring for the new academic year in September, with an estimated start date of the beginning of August.
We are hiring for the position of 'Year Leader' to design and deliver exceptional community based learning sessions on our Building Futures Programme, around the local Guildford and Woking areas, which will be welcoming a new year group to the programme.
You will be responsible for:
-Creating person centred, goal orientated educational sessions for groups of SEND learners.
-Supporting the delivery of sessions to groups of between 6-12 young adults (please see the timetable below for an example of the types of sessions)
-Providing a high level of service and support to our participants, colleagues and stakeholders
-Safeguarding and ensuring a safe, caring, responsive, effective and well led service – compliant with regulations and legislation.
Requirements:
-An understanding of learning disabilities
-Excellent communication skills
-Confident in supporting and delivering outstanding person-centred sessions to groups
-Due to the physical nature of the programme and community working, a good level of fitness and stamina is required.
-Experience of activity delivery with children and / or people with support needs through youth work, event organisation or education.
-You will ideally be proactive and keen for continuous improvement in yourself and the adults you are supporting, contributing to the development of the programme and working closely with the team.
-Aged 18 and above.
-Right to work in the UK. Please note we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
-Willing to provide suitable reference and undertake a DBS Check. The initial cost of the DBS application will be paid for by halow.
Please note , it is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in Regulated Activity (Under the Safeguarding and Vulnerable Groups Act 2006) to apply for a role that requires them to work unsupervised with that particular group (i.e. adults at risk, children or both).
