We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mobile Plumber Engineer to support a government contract across multiple government buildings.
This mobile role involves travelling between sites to carry out a wide range of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and general plumbing tasks.
Your days may vary between visiting several buildings or spending the full day resolving issues at a single location, depending on operational requirements.
Job Description
We are looking for someone who can work independently, problem-solve effectively, and deliver a consistently high standard of workmanship.
The role requires a fully qualified plumber with strong fault-finding abilities, confidence working across multiple building systems, and the flexibility to support general building fabric tasks when required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform scheduled inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, adjustments, testing, and troubleshooting of plumbing equipment.
Repair cracked pipes, resolve blocked drainage issues and inspect plumbing systems to detect failures or identify causes of malfunctions.
Dismantle devices, remove defective parts, inspect used components and calibrate systems in line with manufacturer specifications.
Maintain complex plumbing systems, including washers, steam cleaning devices, compressors, hydraulic lifts, water systems, drainage, and sprinkler systems.
Install, modify and repair plumbing systems, including tapping into main lines, routing pipework, cutting openings, and installing valves, traps and unions.
Test, repair, replace and install backflow prevention devices in line with local codes and regulations.
Interpret building plans, blueprints and sketches to plan system layouts, equipment placement and pipe routing.
Support contractor control duties, including monitoring workmanship, issuing Permits to Work and ensuring service standards are met.
Keep accurate maintenance records, review work orders, estimate time/materials and order required parts.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
Fully qualified plumber with NVQ or City & Guilds in Plumbing and Heating or Mechanical Systems.
Experience in FM/Maintenance environments is highly desirable.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, particularly for reactive tasks.
Comfortable turning your hand to various tasks, including general building fabric maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and building plans.
Demonstrates honesty, care, attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
Strong prioritisation and time-management skills, with awareness of task urgency.
