Are you looking to take the next step in your career, develop your skills into expert clinical practice? If you have an interest in renal medicine and would like the opportunity to become an expert in renal pharmacy, providing exceptional care to a highly complex patient cohort, then this could be the role for you.
This position has been designed to provide additional pharmacy input into our dialysis and renal outpatient population.
Work closely with clinicians, nursing colleagues and other members of the MDT to promote safe and effective use of medicines whilst ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience across all aspects of renal pharmacy, with strong encouragement and support to develop your knowledge, skills and expertise.
Provide appropriate medicine prescribing and monitoring advice to members of the MDT. Opportunity to attend ward rounds in renal medicine and to be a part of several collaborative MDTs, working with nurses, doctors, advanced care practitioners, dietitians, etc.
Opportunity to participate in outpatient and assessment clinics within our Renal Medicine service.
Active involvement in the development and review of policies and procedures within the renal specialty. Assist the Advanced Pharmacist to manage the introduction of new drugs and treatment guidelines into the division.
Deliver educational sessions to pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, nurses and doctors.
Assist the Advanced Pharmacist in preparing financial reports and ensure that drug usage and expenditure is monitored and regularly reported to the Divisional management team.
Opportunities for participation in audit, quality improvement projects and research in Renal Medicine.
If not already achieved or working towards, you will be given the opportunity to undertake an independent prescribing course. This is funded by the Trust, and you will be supported to attend study days and complete prescribing practice hours.
Based at Royal Derby Hospital (with occasional visits to other UHDB sites where necessary).
