We are the Environment Agency. Working with Government, councils, businesses, and communities, we create a better place for people and wildlife. You’ll sit at the heart of our work to transform our planning and regulation of the water industry to improve water company performance.
We’re looking for an innovative person to support the Environment Agency’s involvement in Pollution Incident Reduction Plans (PIRPs). You will be helping us to improve future water industry performance and regulation. Co-ordinated management of this work, including linking it with other areas such as Drainage & Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs), will achieve important benefits for the water environment.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
Providing a structured plan for undertaking our new statutory role on PIRPs, working with all water companies (water & sewerage companies, water only companies and New Appointments & Variations (NAVs)) to reduce the number and severity of pollution incidents that impact the environment.
Providing a sector view across all water company PIRPs.
Line management of a small, technical team providing national oversight of the water industry’s development and publishing of PIRPs. This includes securing resources, maintaining finances, and forming and developing a new team.
Building relationships and developing new ways of working across the business, working with Water Industry Regulation teams in Local Operations, Account Management teams and teams leading on regulation in Environment and Business.
You will have line management responsibility for a small ream, so we’re looking for an exceptional person who can foster an inclusive atmosphere that encourages the sharing of best practice, focusses on health, safety and wellbeing and ensures all parties are working cohesively towards the same goal.
We promote a positive, inclusive, supportive culture where everyone feels valued, using evidence, expertise, and innovation to enhance and support delivery, influence policy, legislation and secure resources.
