About the role We are looking for an experienced Practice Manager to join The London Clinic on a 12-month fixed term contract to provide maternity cover. This role provides operational leadership for the medical secretarial team supporting Surgical and Medical consultant services across the organisation, including London Spine Clinic. London Spine Clinic forms part of The London Clinic and is based on Harley Street. The service supports a group of specialist spinal consultants and therapists delivering expert care in a leading private healthcare setting. The Practice Manager will oversee the medical secretarial team supporting these services, ensuring administrative processes run efficiently and consultant practices are supported by a high quality and responsive service. The role also plays an important part in supporting the continued growth of London Spine Clinic through close collaboration with consultants and the Business Development team. This is a varied role combining team leadership, operational management and service development. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the medical secretarial team supporting Surgical and Medical consultant services across The London Clinic, including London Spine Clinic. Ensure the smooth delivery of administrative services supporting consultant led clinics and procedures. Oversee clinic scheduling, service capacity and administrative workflows to ensure services operate efficiently. Provide leadership, supervision and support to team members through regular one to one meetings and performance management. Coordinate workforce planning, recruitment and annual leave management to ensure appropriate service coverage. Act as an escalation point for operational issues and work with teams to resolve service challenges. Work closely with spinal consultants and therapists to support the development of their practices. Strengthen relationships with referrers including GP practices and physiotherapy providers. Promote services and identify opportunities to increase referrals and activity levels. Collaborate with the Business Development team to support service growth and revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate We are looking for someone with strong operational and leadership experience who understands the dynamics of consultant led services within private healthcare. You will bring experience managing healthcare administrative teams and will be confident working closely with consultants and senior stakeholders. Essential experience Experience managing or supervising an administrative or operational team. Experience managing a team of medical secretaries or healthcare administrators. Experience working within a private hospital or private healthcare setting. Experience supporting consultant led services. Strong organisational and operational management skills.
