About the RoleNextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a SEN Classroom Teaching Assistant to work on a supply basis at a supportive specialist school located in BD16. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs while benefiting from the flexibility of supply work.
The school supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) including autism, communication needs, and moderate to complex learning difficulties. As a supply teaching assistant, you will support classroom teachers in delivering engaging and structured learning while helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom support to pupils with special educational needs
- Work with pupils 1:1 or in small groups to support learning and engagement
- Assist the class teacher with preparing and delivering adapted learning activities
- Support pupils with communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Follow individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies where required
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a classroom team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- The right to work in the UK
- An enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
- The ability to provide 24 months worth of professional references
