Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a General Porter to work within our Portering/Security Department at West Park Hospital. Working as part of the Team.
We are looking for enthusiastic self-motivated people who can work well on their own and as part of a team. You will be able to work in a specific area or, if you prefer, can be trained to work in a number of areas.
A General Porter/Security is an ideal opportunity to gain experience of working in a hospital environment.
You must have a flexible approach to work hours and to meet the demands of the job; this flexibility is something that you may also find suits your needs.
All training and uniform will be provided
This post is part time, 30 hours per week.
To provide a comprehensive portering service to the West Park Hospital site as part of the portering team.

Post & Deliveries
Collect post from all wards, sort it, and deliver to the appropriate areas of the Trust.
Collect specimens and blood samples during the post run and take them to the designated reception area.
Deliver pharmacy products to wards in line with scheduled delivery times.
Collect breakfast items and bottled water for distribution to wards.
Mortuary Duties
Collect deceased patients from wards, transfer them to the Mortuary, and complete all required documentation.
Arrange viewings of deceased patients out of hours in exceptional circumstances, following hospital policy.
Record Mortuary fridge temperatures twice daily (AM and PM) and complete associated paperwork.
Waste, Laundry & Cleaning
Collect clinical and non-clinical waste from designated ward areas and transport it to the bin area.
Collect dirty laundry from wards and deliver it to the dirty linen area.
Collect food waste twice daily, weigh it, and record waste data.
Wash and clean food waste bins after collection.
Medical Gases & Supplies
Replace medical gas cylinders on wards as required and return empty cylinders to the designated holding stores.
Reorder medical gases once 10 cylinders are empty.
Equipment & Logistics
Move equipment and furniture across the site as requested.
Follow the Bed Policy for replacing beds and mattresses, including issuing beds from the Bed Store.
Patient Meal Support
Serve patient meals on scheduled days or when requested.
Lone Worker Procedure
At the end of the late shift, send a text to the Housekeeping Manager confirming departure from the hospital site, in accordance with the Lone Worker Policy.
