Are you passionate about delivering brilliant customer service? Do you thrive in a busy retail environment where community, quality and experience really matter?
We are looking for a hands-on, customer-focused Retail Supervisor to support the day-to-day running of our North Worle Superstore.
At over 9,000 sq. ft, North Worle is one of Weston Hospicecare’s most important income-generating shops and a true community hub. From furniture and fashion to books, homewares and children’s items, it’s a vibrant and welcoming retail space where customers expect a great experience — and where your role will be key in delivering it.
This is a practical, shop-floor-based role. You’ll lead by example, create a welcoming environment for every customer and donor, and ensure our store looks its best every single day.
What you’ll be doing:
- Creating a warm, friendly and helpful environment for customers and donors at all times.
- Leading by example on the shop floor, delivering outstanding customer service and setting the standard for the team.
- Encouraging donations and Gift Aid sign-ups in a confident and professional way.
- Supporting volunteers on shift, helping them feel confident and valued in their roles.
- Ensuring the shop floor is well presented, fully stocked and visually appealing.
- Processing donated stock efficiently — sorting, pricing, steaming and replenishing — so customers always see fresh, high-quality stock.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the store, including opening and closing when required.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety, cash handling and security.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a retail environment where customer service is at the heart of what you do.
- A natural people person who enjoys talking to customers and building rapport.
- Confidence supervising volunteers and supporting others to deliver great service.
- A hands-on approach — happy to work across shop floor and back of house.
- Resilience and the ability to work at pace in a busy environment.
- A positive, can-do attitude and pride in maintaining high standards.
What we offer:
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata).
- Contributory pension scheme.
- Employee discount scheme with major retailers.
- Free parking at some of our sites.
- Family-friendly benefits.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Staff social activities and opportunities to take part in challenge events and fundraising.
By joining our North Worle team, you won’t just be working in retail — you’ll be helping to create a welcoming community space that raises vital funds for local hospice care. Every interaction, every donation and every sale helps us continue providing specialist care for local people and their families.
An Enhanced DBS check will be required (arranged and paid for by us).
We value and encourage applications from all sections of the community.
