An exciting opportunity is available to join our regional upper GI service as the upper GI Nurse administrator. This role would suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team in a friendly but busy environment.
The Upper GI Nursing team support patients with Oesophageal, gastric and Hepatobiliary cancers in the Bristol South catchment area but also in the southwest peninsular. We are sponsored by Macmillan and our administrator plays a vital role in supporting our cancer patients experience and cancer journey.
We are looking for a proactive individual with excellent communication and IT skills, who is well versed with the trust computer systems including Excel, Office and SharePoint databases.
As a clinical team the nurses need support answering the phone calls, collating patient information, compiling databases and coordinating appointments.
As the role is an administrative role, the successful applicant will be well supported by our performance and operations team.

The role will include:
• Acting as a point of contact for patients, relatives and carers always being polite and empathetic to the patient’s needs and communicating effectively when dealing with difficult situations
• Providing administrative support to the upper GI multidisplinary team including preparation of reports, documenting outcomes and sending correspondence to patients.

The successful candidate will be working in a busy role and will need to be able to manage and prioritise their time effectively to coordinate multiple tasks without needing continual supervision. The ability to use their own initiative is essential. They should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure. The candidate must be a good team player and enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team.
