Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive and well-established Non-Specific Symptom Pathway team at the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre. We are looking to recruit an Administrator to provide an efficient and effective patient-focused administrative service for Cancer Institute Non-Specific Symptom Pathway by supporting the Clinical Nurse Specialist Team. The current team consist of CNS’s and the patient groups are varied and require different levels of support / input.
• Point of contact for patients attending outpatient clinics and arranging blood tests either locally in the BHOC outpatient department, or via the patients GP.
• To assist with preparation of the Outpatient clinics, which may include liaising with other Trusts/ departments, chasing results and reports.
• Dealing with telephone enquiries from hospital staff, general practitioners, patients and others and liaising with relevant departments. To take accurate messages and pass onto the appropriate person if unable to help with the query.
• Be able to use the relevant computer systems to accurately input and retrieve patient information, check patient demographic information is current and accurate.
• Maintaining filing systems.
• Typing of Clinical Nurse Specialist letters, and uploading to the Evolve system.
Clinical Nurse Specialist Support
• Printing and filtering all two-week-wait referrals sent through e-Referral Service.
• Organising/updating patient list once a week for a case review with CNS team, Oncology Consultant and a potential new recruitment of GP.
• First port of call for telephone queries for CNS team.
• Typing of all CNS clinic and correspondence letters and filing.
• Input data to the NSSP spreadsheets.
Administrative/Clerical
• To communicate effectively, promptly and accurately, applying discretion and tact where necessary, with written, telephone and face-to-face contact, with patients, visitors, other Trust staff and various external agencies.
